Hey guys

New to the forum and to car audio installation. I have an '01 Tahoe without Bose and I am getting ready to install 6.5 components in the doors with 2" tweeters. I noticed when I pulled out the stock speakers that there is a gap between the door skin and the metal door, do you recommend creating an MDF spacer between the skin and the metal door? What is the best way to install the tweeter?

Also, I will be wiring an amp next week when it arrives, but in the meantime would like to use the factory wires to connect to the speakers, I saw someone mentioning splicing them, is this difficult to do? Anyone have any documentation?

Thanks again.

You should be fine with the gap. The tweeter should make up for any loss it would cause.:)
