Hi everyone,

I am planning to install a 2" Skyjacker leveling kit and not sure what size tires to go with. Tires will be mounted on a set of Weld Cheyenne 6's - 20 x 9 with a 6.26 backspacing. I am considering the Nitto Terra Grapplers in these 3 sizes: 305/55/20, 305/50/20, or 285/55/20. I have read others on here running the 305/55/20, but they have had rubbing issues and really do not want to do any trimming. I am thinking of going with either the 305/50/20 or the 285/55/20 which will be a 32" tire, but will have a difference in width.

Thanks!

Pulled the trigger

I just pulled the trigger and mounted the 305/50/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

I know, just got excited and just took pictures when I had the chance. I will be taking more pictures at a better location and with a better background.

Did you have to do any trimming in the front wheel inner skirts? Looks good by the way . .. I'm assuming your truck is 2wd - right?

Pygeum,

No trimming on front or rear inner skirts. I went with the 305/50/20 which is is the approximately the same height as the stock 275/55/20 equaling 32" tall. The difference is the width from 10.8" to 12" wide. I was considering the305/55/20 which is a 33" tall and 12" wide, but heard it would rub. Also, my tahoe is a 4wd with autoride.

That looks good and I like those tires (MTRs?). Any impressions for off-road use? Also, it looks like the rear is lower...

Zed 71,

The Nitto Terra Grappler's are All Terrains.

Yes, the rear is almost 1/2 inch lower measuring from bottom side of the vehicle behind the front tire and front of the rear tire, does that make sense? I am considering raising the rear with a Suspension Maxx 1" rear spacer.

Yes, this will be used for slight off-road use and the family ride. My wife and I both agreed on the tahoe as it is perfect fit for our needs, family friendly, 4x4, and tow ability. Just sold my other toys, not to long ago, since I have a 18 month daugther and a son on the way in January. Use to have a 02' F250 Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4 with a 15" lift on 40" tires as my hauler and had a 89' Toyota Pick-up as trailer truck with a 7" lift cut on 35" tires.

Thanks for breaking down the numbers for me. You have given me a lot of usable info and saved me some hours researching. . .

Wow, those ATs have an aggressive tread pattern. Nice Toyota too, I always liked that style.
