Just ran thru the first full tank of gas

averaged a miserable 12.7

but to be fair, its all here in the neighborhood, back and forth to the school and grocery store........

I now have a whole 381 miles on the ol gal......

But I know the engine needs to break in........

I only drive back roads as I work about 5 miles away from my home. So with no highway miles I average 13 mpg and I have 9000 miles on the engine..so I would count on the mpg to get mush better

why do you guys expect to get high MPG out of a heavy SUV? :confused2:

I average 14-15 in my 03. I wish I could get more but its not gonna happen. I've got 50k on it with the 5.3, 4x4, 20" wheels/tires,and 3.73s for axle ratios. I don't have a heavy foot though.

10,000 miles later I still love our Tahoe and for a 5000LB SUV I don't expect stellar mileage, that and I have a heavy foot as the sound of that engine is addicting.

Less than 1,000 on the odometer here and I've filled up twice. I'm averaging about 340 miles on a tank and between 14 & 15 MPG in mixed driving .. pretty equal between highway and city.
