volume goes up and down automaticaly

I have a 97 tahoe 4 door with the factory system and the volume goes up and down on its own. I replaced the head unit with another one and the same thing happens. any ideas where to look next?

is it the factory head unit? or did you replace it with an aftermarket one?
the factory head unit have scv or avol, or w/e they call it now. it basically turns up your volume at higher speeds. there should be an adjustment on the radio itself.

its the stock unit, and I know about the volume control you are talking about but this totaly dig=ffrwent it goes from barely hearing it to blasting then way down again while sitting in the driveway

this happended to one of ours. it was the rear cargo speaker. 1 small thread of the wire going into the cone was hitting the basket of the speaker and making the radio go crazy. i guarantee if you check all of yours one is grounding out to say?
