We just purchased our Tahoe used from a local dealer. (it has 110K miles on it) I just got the service history log that they had on the tahoe going back to '04.
One of the things that they recommend replacing (and it was never done) is the Transmisison output shaft seal. What is this and what does it do? Is it important to replace (if so - how soon)? Is it something that I can replace with minimal skills? (I change my own brakes and spark plugs, but do not venture much further than that typicalls) If I have the dealer replace it - what would be considered a fair price (or at least what should I expect?)
Sorry for all the questions, but I have never heard of that seal before and was unaware it was a part that goes bad...
Thanks for your help,
Michael
