This topic has most likely already been covered, but if you purchase a nav system can you install it in a vehicle that was not originaly equipped with it?

yes you can. but if your original stuff is non-Bose, you need to deal with no more blinker sounds, very low chimes and very low OnStar voice. I just did the swap in my 08 (dealer sold/installed as part of purchase) and even they didnt know about the Bose being needed.

Also,without Bose, the volume only gets to about 1/2 of where the original head unit got. This is becuase the basic head unit has am amp built in (or at least more power).

I am looking into solutions myself for this problem.

If you have Bose setup already, then its plug and play. Just need it programmed at a dealer.
