Z Shifting into 4WD when started

I have a 2004 Z71. When you put the key in the transmission will go to 4WD high or Auto 4wd. You have to punch the 2 high button. What causes this?

I would look at the switch before anything else.

I hope it is that. No problems while it is running, just at startup. It is more of an aggravation than anything.

2005 shifts to 4 LOW at start up

Similar issue with mine, but it goes to 4 LOW. I push the buttons for AUTO and 2WD, but it will not shift. any ideas?
