i am a 01 tahoe LS and i wanted to change the tranny and rear diff fluid but i am not sure what is the best fluid to use. . . thanks

What he said. Neither of those are something you really want to put the wrong fluids in.

However since i put 60k miles a year on mine and i asked the service manager when the trans fluid should be changed and he said they only change trans fluid if it smells burnt.

As for rearend gear oil.........ive never seen anyone change it, or even heard of it, unless they are doing a gear swap. Gear oil in the rearend is an extremely high weight, 80w-90 in my 5.0 mustangs.

Usually you use dextron mercon III ATF in the trans but GM likes to use GM Synchromesh, and they like to charge a pretty penny for it as well.
