97 Yukon Starting Sluggish

While holding the key in the start position the starter will lag and slowly turn over for a few seconds then really take off and start immediately. Anyone have this problem before. I am considering replacing the starter but I dont want to do it for nothing. Also the battery is brand new.

thats weird. Maybe the starter is starting to give up. or maybe it has a hung brush or rough spot.

I replaced the starter (went with a gear reduction model) and all is well now. Now I am planning to attempt the steering speed sensor. I am having the jerky steering problem.
