Well, this is my first post, and I already need some help. I have completed several searches here, but I haven't found anything specifically addressing my question. First off, I have a 98 Tahoe 4WD that is all stock. I may be able to pick up a set of 07 Z71 Rims with factory 265/65/18 tires. Based on calculations, I believe the width of my tire will not change much and the height about an inch so I should have no rubbing issues. Will I have any problems installing the 07 rims on my 98 Tahoe? Thanks, Rusty.

I think those rims will look nice on your 98 tahoe.... before you go further, make sure that the stud holes will match with the ones on your original rims... just measure the length of each hole apart. If they match, you got yourself a 2098 tahoe..... I ment do say 2098 (2007 rims on a 98 tahoe):) I hope everything turns out alright.

tahoeman21,

Thanks for the reply. I will check the distance between holes as you indicated. If everything works out on the wheels, I will let you all know and post pics.

Yes they will fit without issue, both trucks are 6on5.5 and the nnbs z71 wheels are around 5.5" of backspacing so they will fit fine.

Thanks. I was worried about the backspacing. BTW, your Tahoe looks awesome. Those wheels look great!

I work at a 4wheel drive shop and all the gm 6 luggers interchange, there are some fitment issues with the newer trucks and 16" wheels on rear drum only nbs 1/2 tons but anything 17"+ will interchange without issue. I have the 07 nnbs 20's on my 02 denali, as long as they are 6lug gm they will fit no problem.

How much backspace is required and how much is too much? I saw some killer 18" x 8" rims with 0" backspace and I assume they will stick my tires way out past the wheelwells. Most of the other wheels I have seen have 5" backspace.

The 07 and newer have a high 30 to mid 17 mm off set. The wheels will fit fine, they will be set in from the fender just a little bit, but with a wider tire configuration you and change the look of it. The great thing is that you can take the new wheels and put on the old but you cant take old and put on new, they will stick out about 2" from the fender. So yes you can use the new wheels.

Here are 2 pics of my Tahoe. One before and one after installing the new Chevy 18" rims and tires. I have had them on the vehicle for a few weeks with no issues.

Looks 10x better! Especially since the new ones have center caps and no white letter out
