Hello, Everyone.

I just found the forum this afternoon and signed up.

I'm from Amarillo, TX. I just bought a '99 2-door Tahoe. LT Z-71 with the 5.7L Engine and Automatic Transmission. New 6" suspension, towing package, cruise control, leather seats, power seats ...

I'm 3 months into a restoration of the vehicle and should be finished in a couple of weeks.

Here's some "before" pics:

I owned a '95 Tahoe and missed it since I traded it in a few years ago. I sold an '05 Dodge Power Wagon to buy this one ... that's how bad I missed my old Tahoe.

Hobbies: I drag race a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang and I'm an avid flyfisherman ... both hobbies have me itching for Spring.

Here's a pic of my car:

I'll post "after" pics of my Tahoe when I get her finished.

I don't know. The guy I bought if from advertised it as a "Z-71" and it has the badges on it.

Of course, after I drove all that distance to pick it up and got it home, I found several things about the vehicle that were inconsistent with things he told me and things that were in the ad.

Does anyone know for certain if Chevy made a 2-door Z-71 ???

I'll do some research on my own, too.

I found this info during a 10 minute search. I'll do more research but I'm fairly confident it's the real deal.

The "before" pics are the pics from the e-bay ad and they look really good. Once I drove 9 hours, one-way, my eyes saw what the camera couldn't capture. Many, many, many small dents, dings, and scratches. The upholstery was pretty rough, the dash bezels broken, sound system gutted ...

The day after I got her home we started an complete interior/exterior restoration. That was the first week in January. She should be finished in the next 10-14 days. ;)

New pics from yesterday ...

Went by and saw her today. All the glass is in except for the new windshield. Three of the doors are on and the other one was being wet-sanded.

She'll be all buttoned up this weekend with finishing touches, interior and cleanup, and sound system to be done next week. Might get to pick her up at the end of next week.

As soon as I pick her up she's going in for a set of new headers with true-dual exhaust and a new CAI.

All you trouts better be gettin' nervous ... I'm headed your way !!!

O.K., Boys ... She's all but finished ... Just a couple of minor things left but she's certainly road worthy and does not disappoint.

This project started on January 4. Here we are 3 months and 2 days later.

The motor hums like a sewing machine and on the road she drives smoooooooth and quiet ... except, of course for the Alpine stereo system complete with amp and powered sub-woofers.

And now ... The finished product:

New grill, billet insert, headlight/turnlight assemblies, brushguard blasted and powdercoated, new trim and badges, new painted fender skirts, new headers with true-dual exhaust that dumps in front of the rear wheels ...

Under hood ... K&N CAI, Optima Marine Deep Cycle Battery ...

Interior: New dash bezels, new heated leather seats, shampooed and steamed carpet and headliner, new overhead console ...
