99 Tahoe and checking for a good lift

Hey everyone! I've had 4Runners & trucks and an FJ- always lifted for both the clearance and a firmer ride. Love my new Tahoe but the ride is like a freakin' caddy! Just want to raise is 2" to 4" and firm things up. Guy before me also had offset wheels which I don't care for - always felt it would put undue stress on the wheel bearings, and, might keep me from passing through a tight space. I'll search the forum but was hoping someone might have some sage advise! :smokin:
