Reverse Lights not Bright enough

Anyone else notice the reverse light not as bright as earlier models?

Have been reading where others are installing this LED bulb - available at Amazon and elsewhere.... going to look at getting a couple. There appears to be a similar Philips bulb that comes in a 2-pack for about the same price - unclear the difference (perhaps lower lumens?)
