radio compatability

I am wondering what years of radios are compatabilty with my 1997 Yukon, I have a friend with a 2003 Avalanche and I would like to put his in dash 6 disc deck in, I like to keep it looking original, I would prefer not to run an aftermarket deck.

I am just guessing, but I would make an educated guess that you can go up to a 99 model as alot changed after 99 in 2000 and beyond.

Do a search on some adapters and see what you come up with.

it does look like the 2002 avalanche radio is compatible, not the 2003
