I have a 2000 yukon. The ext temp display in the rearview mirror is reading about 40 degrees too low. Does anyone know the likely cause.....sensor, mirror, computer? Also if it is the sensor where is it located? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a bad sensor. I am not sure where those are in the 2k models but I "think" its up on the dash.

On your vehicle, I believe the sensor is behind the passenger side park/turn light lens. The sensor is a likely problem, or the wiring harness that connects it. The sensor is a resistor that changes resistance as the temperature changes, so a good connection is important. The mirror would be the next likely candidate.

By the way, you have to remove the headlamp assembly to get to the park/turn signal light lens.
