Driver's Door handle scuffed- how to fix

The door handle on my '07 LTZ is scuffed. I'm not sure how this happened. I suppose one option is to have it re-painted. I'm wondering if door handles come pre-painted from the factory, and if it would be a simple procedure of buying a new handle and replacing the old one?

Most body parts come primed from the factory. Is the scuff too deep to polish out?
