I have been getting the slamming into gear effect for the past two summers. It seems to happen when its hot and I drive for more than 20 minutes or so...If I shut it off for 3 or 4 minutes, it goes away, but returns and starts slamming into gear again...Asked several mechanics, transmission...
It doesn't bounce around like the gauge in that video, it seems to "vibrate", like the way a hummingbirds wings move ( sorry for the bad analogy, thats the best I can do to describe it). it moves about 1/8 of an inch to each side....
I changed out my fuel pump last year....this problem...
the fuel gauge on my 99 flutters rapidly.......it reads the tank level correctly, but the vibrating needle is quite annoying...has anyone had this problem and or been able to correct it?
I went to start my '99 Tahoe the other day and it was running a little rough at start. A few moments later the "service engine soon" light came on. I "rented" the OBD tool from Checker and this was the code that was displayed "PO171" (System too lean-left bank).
I reset the PCM, and the...
There is no visible leakage coming from the intake mainifold or anywhere above the area circled in the photo... I cleaned the area with a rag and sat back and watched it......Coolant slowly seeps out from that corner after a few seconds.....I am afriad that it is indeed the Passenger side head...
I think I have found the area where my tahoe is leaking coolant from.....It has been seeping from this corner...( could it be the head gasket?) I am not too mechanically inclined so any suggestions would be helpful....
I had a simular problem with my temp guage which JK Motorsports diagnosed correctly and it was an easy fix.....the post is titled "help with my '99 coolant problems" if you want to read it. Here is the reply to my post that solved the problem....

I did this today, and sure enough I got A "burb" out of my radiator...after that I topped it off and now the temperature guage is functioning as it should.....
Now if I could just locate that slow coolant leak.. I was under my Tahoe...
do you have a sidepost battery????
if so, ensure that the cable is making good contact.....I had the same problem and almost went as far as replacing the starter before an old mechanic walked up and tugged on both my sidepost battery cables and jostled them around.....
It started right up...
Alright, I am still stumped.....
I replaced the belt when I replaced the water pump, but I checked it anyway...it's still new and not slipping.
I also cleaned out the front of the radiator while everything was loose....I removed the leaves, bugs, and found the 3/8th's socket wrench I had...
I have a '99 with approx. 139,000 on it..I have two issues which are stumping me....
#1) Mysterious coolant leak from the front of the engine, dripping by the oil pan area.....amount varies from a couple of drops to a few ounces, and seems more frequent when it is parked on an incline...No...
I had the same problem with my rear tailights...first one side and later the next year the other......
With mine, there was so much buildup of "Dialectric Grease" inside the bulb sockets that the bulb I was replacing could not get contact. I eventially had to take the housings off and clean...
I have been thinking about a lift kit for awhile now. My '99 has the push button 4 wheel drive and I was told that it would cost more to lift my Tahoe and there was a lot more involved in lifting vehicles equipped with this feature.
Those with lifted Tahoe's that have this type of Four wheel...
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and here is my "icebreaker" thread!
I have a '99 tahoe and it has 137K on it. Whenever I drive it for more than 30 minutes or so in hot weather, shifting in the low gears(1-3) seems to be delayed, and when it does finally shift to the next gear it is not...
