Had a issue like this in the past with a truck with the same motor, ended up being a vaccume issue. check the vaccume lines also.

yea all my problem was, was the fuel pump. easy and reasonabily cheap to fix.

well when you get all the parts just take your time. one other word of advice, the lock ring on top of the tank is reusuable. most auto part stores do not carrie them so try and not dammage it.

well my block is pushing over 400hp and 425 ft tq so i have room to talk.

the sending unit is a canister looking like thing that tells your gauge cluster how much fuel u have and it houses the fuel pump. its a nasty yellow in color and has the wiring harness attached. i can try and get a pic for u so u can see what i mean.

Eaton Electronic ELocker Differentials is the company i got mine from. it goes for about $900 but u can pick them up for around 600 or so. its pretty sad when i can keep up with a WS6 TransAm off the line and down the road.

the pump from the TBI 350 and the Vortec 350 are different and the pumps from the vortecs have the wine to them. got to love my tbi. not to mention i am pulling more horse with my tbi then most vortecs.

i just replace my fuel pump yesterday, it too me about 5 hours in all and had it back running again.
