looks good
Looks good, weel done. Strange how wheels from newer trucks almost look better on older trucks. I am cleaning up a set of older 15x10s that I picked up off of Craigslist. Had to go old school to fill the fenders on my fiberglass running boards / fender flares.
price
Just like Tahoe Nick said. If you like it and have the moneyget it. I paid 5g, for mine, all stock super clean. I shopped around for about a year, to be honest I liked this one so much I would have been willing to pay a fair bit more.
Good 2dr or even 4dr Tahoes are getting hard to...
I have had my Tahoe over a year now and this routine has really cleaned out the engine. Each change has looked better than the last. I think it is clean enough now that I can start to go longer between changes.
Coolant leak
Not sure if it will help. I had a leak in the same area and was about to to the intake gasket. After another close inspection I found my issue. Changed out the quick connect and problem solved.
bearings
I just did my bearings, rotors, and breaks. Do you have a 2 or 4 wheel drive? Mine is 2 and everything I could find and watch said the 2 wheel drive bearings should be basically finger tight, over tightening could cause damage. There were some decent tips in the Haynes manuals...
Oil and additives
I bought my Tahoe about a year ago as a weekend truck but enjoy it so much I now drive it to work and back. I work for an oil company and talked to some fokes and they said synthetics no longer have issues with seals, that issue has been worked out. So I settled on Mobil 1...
Woodstock,
Did you ever make the switch back to EVO system? I am very close to rebuilding my front end, trying do decide what path to take. The supper box looks tempting, but I think rebuilding back to factory specs would likely work fine for my everyday driving.
Been looking around on EBay a little. I have had the Tahoe about 6 months and have tried cleaning it up. 1 owner truck, not sure what the last guy did for a living or what, but there is a thick almost greasy buildup in areas around the wheel and airbag. By the time I make progress with the...
I don't plan to alter mine much either, I like the factory look. Been looking for some older wheels to fill out the fender wells a little more, that will likely be the most I do visually. I have been thinking about the same repairs you and lesterl did, I think I just need to bit the bullet and...
Just now getting back to this. Checked the gasket, looked like someone had already done it. Kept an eye on things and finally spotted the issue. It was a slip in fitting connected to a coolant line. Posted pics in my profile albums.http://www.tahoeforum.com/picture.php?albumid=460&pictureid=1967
Truck looks good, not overdone, just right. I am trying to keep mine in good mechanical order as well. Did replacing the Idler and Pitman arms make a noticeable difference? I have been thinking about the same parts to try and tighten up my steering.
Anyone know where to find replacement airbags. Nothing wrong with mine mechanically, just old and very dirty. I can't clean off the greasy layer that has built up in areas. Looking to replace the airbag or airbag cover and probably the steering wheel as well.
Been looking at your fix, looks like a good setup, lots of good reviews on the AGR steering gear. Quick question, been reading up on it and trying to figure out if it is basically a like for like install, it looks like it is? Does the speed sensitive steering still work after the swap out?
