Would it be a terrible idea to completely remove the muffler and install a flex pipe in its place? 04 z71 with 75k miles

Basically, I really just want my tahoe to be a bit louder and get some better airflow. Has anyone just removed the muffler and put in flex pipe to replace this? ALso, Can you reccomend a exahust system thats fairly inexpensive?
