There is no way to do it correctly without painting the entire panel. If they masked just the scratch area and painted it - it would be noticable.

There would be no way to even proove that you were using it. Turn the key hit DVD and the picture disappears... Hit the mute button 4 times on the steering wheel within 6 seconds and the picture comes back. No way in hell that anyone can prove you even had it on... This is not an issue.
