vibration in steering column while in turn

As an update - I checked the power steering fluid level and it was a little low (not much at all, but a little) so I added some additional fluid. It seems to have helped quite a bit. The rattle (shake) is still there, but not nearly as bad as it was.... I just added it this morning so it...

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo Feedback (P275/55/R20)

For mainly on-road use, I am really happy with the Cooper Discoverer H/T. They are not very expensive, seem to be wearing well and are very quiet and comfortable on the road. Michael

vibration in steering column while in turn

I have noticed that when I turn, I hear a vibration (and feel it) coming from the steering column. I do not notice it when driving in a straight line. Also I can replicate the sound by pushing hard on the top of the steering wheel (shaking it) and the wheel moves slightly and makes the same...

    Change Oil light

Turn the ignition set to on without starting the engine. Press the gas pedal three times in quick succession and watch for battery light to flash three times, when it does, it is reset. (BTW - I googled it, here was where I stole the answer from)

    Gas Strike friday

Well, news of the gas strike has swept the nation. The gas companies, reeling from everyone filling up Thursday instead of Friday, have all publicly appologised and promised prices will be back to $1.30/gal in a few weeks. You were right, I was wrong. Sorry for not believing.

    Gas Strike friday

What hit will they take? You will still fill up your car - they do 150% business on Thursday and Saturday, but none on Friday - what message have you sent? If you really want to hit them - say no driving on friday. If a huge percentage of people did not consume gas on a certain day - that...

How easy to damage xfer case?

ok, now I am starting to feel like an idiot. For the spark plugs (I usually try to change these myself) I typically purchase from RockAuto. I see the following plugs available for the Tahoe. NKG NGK Part # 2238 {V-Power #TR5} NGK Part # 3186 {GP-Series #TR5GP} NGK Part # 7397...

How easy to damage xfer case?

Thanks for the reply... I was thinking about mobil one for the diffs. Just because I can find it at Advance Autoparts or AutoZone. Is there a national supplyer for Royal Purple? (i.e. where can I get it?) Thanks for the tip about the plugs, I will go that route.... Was going to get...

How easy to damage xfer case?

I have a 2001 tahoe that I purchased last summer with 110,000 miles on it. It is my wifes vehicle and we typically put it in auto-4wd in late fall and drop it to 2wd in early spring. (I just took it out of auto-4wd yesterday) It now has 116,000 miles on it. While I was at the dealer having...

Here is a site where people care more about oil than most healthy people should. On the good side - it is easy for us to benefit from their obsession.... Michael

replace rear seat belt on 2001 tahoe

I need to replace the retactor mechanism in the drivers side 2nd row seat in my 2001 Tahoe. Basically it catches like if you pulled the seat belt all the way out and never shuts off. My question is - how do you remove the trim piece that the seat belt goes into? I can remove the bolt...

How long do they really last

We just purchased an 01 tahoe with 111,000 miles on it. The price was right and it seemed to be in good condition. While looking we saw many tahoe/suburban/Yukons for sale with over 200K on them. Based on that and the fact that the 01 would not be a primary vehicle for us - we purchased it...

    Question about automatic AC control?

Recirc is on at first to cool the car faster. (brings in air from the car that has already been cooled once (or more) to cool rather than the hot air from outside) Once the car is close to the temp it needs and A/C is up and running to the point that it can cool the outside air enough -...

    Transmission output shaft seal?

We just purchased our Tahoe used from a local dealer. (it has 110K miles on it) I just got the service history log that they had on the tahoe going back to '04. One of the things that they recommend replacing (and it was never done) is the Transmisison output shaft seal. What is this and...

New owner - a few questions.

My wife and I just purchased a 2001 Tahoe LT 4x4 with 110,000 miles on it. (Got what we felt was a good price and the exterior looks great.) Interior looks nice but there is a tear in the drivers leather seat. (looks like something snagged the seat and tore it. There is a flap hanging down)...
