New ignition cylinder but wont start

I tried this learn process again today. It did not work. •Observe the security light located in the instrument cluster, after approximately 10 minutes the security light will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. My security light turns off after about 3-4 seconds...

New ignition cylinder but wont start

I played with it again today. The security light is solid when the battery is engaged, but turns off after about 2-3 seconds. When I turn the key to run, it starts up and then quickly dies. At this time, the security light flashes 4 times and then turns off. The key seems to stay in the run...

New ignition cylinder but wont start

I don't know what tumblers are. I replaced what I call the lock cylinder. The key seems to be turning as it should. Everything goes normal up until it starts and then quickly dies.

New ignition cylinder but wont start

I sure hope not. It's not a chipped key. And the original ignition cylinder works, it's just a pain in the butt. I didn't figure sliding the cylinder from my 96 Tahoe into the 98 Yukon would cause this kind of reaction.

New ignition cylinder but wont start

Lester, I don't know what PK2 is. Yes.The key turns freely. And it fires up and then abruptly dies. The security light is solid when the battery is engaged, but goes away after maybe 3 seconds. Thanks

New ignition cylinder but wont start

Hello everyone! I have a 98 Yukon that I have put a new ignition cylinder in. The truck will not start with the new cylinder. It just cuts off immediately. I tried leaving the battery on for 10 minutes, then retrying to start it. But after 3 times, I've given up after killing my battery...

Tips for extending the life of your Tahoe/Yukon?

I'm hoping for some responses on how to maximize the longevity of your Tahoe or Yukon. I've had my 96 Chevy Tahoe for less than a year, and like all of my vehicles I am hardcore about changing fluids at the proper intervals. I want my Tahoe to run just as long as I do. What are some key things...

    4X4 only works sometimes

Thanks for your response. I'm glad to be filled-in a little bit on the different components of the 4WD that may be causing my issue. I've replaced a TCCM on a Durango once, but to be honest I have no idea where the TCCM on my Tahoe is, or what it would look like. I'm definitley going to follow...

    Good online tire store?

I got my BF Goodrich A/T tires from tire rack for a little over 600. I like them a lot and comparing them to other online suppliers and local retailer, I was impressed.

How do you remove the fuel tank on 95 6.5 diesel Tahoe? We have the straps loose.

Aside from local salvage yards or car-part.com. Rockauto.com has just about everything I ever need. I'm sure they have Tahoe fuel tanks including the diesel ones.

    4X4 only works sometimes

I have a 1996 4D Chevy Tahoe. The 4X4 doesn't always engage. I've noticed that the indicator light is bright when it's willing to engage, and dim or not lit when it won't engage. What's my problem? Thanks (I just had the rear differential oil replaced a few weeks back.)

Where is the coolant petcock valve?

Okay. I've located the drain plug. It cannot be accessed or seen from underneath of the car. You have to remove the driver's side tire-well cover, (alot of bolts) and then you can see it, and turn it by hand.

Where is the coolant petcock valve?

I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe 4D 4X4. I was hoping to drain, flush, and replace the coolant. But I can't seem to find the drain valve. Can anyone help me find this thing? Thanks!

    Bosch Platinum +4 Spark Plugs

I've used plus four's and other "premium plugs" in a number of different vehicles; often comparing them to "basic" or oem type plugs. My opinion is to stick with the plug that's as close to mfg spec as possible. That's usually a cheaper A/C Delco type plug, but I've never seen any difference in...

HOW To: Paint Calipers and Brake Drums

This is an excellent guide. I plan on doing this in the next several weeks. And as is with any work done to my Tahoe, #8 from your "What you'll need" tool list is a requirement.

The Benefits of Correct Air Pressure

This is generally good information to have. I usually think about tire pressure solely in terms of miles per gallon or saving money. But rarely do I relate tire pressure to performance or in regard to maintaining a healthly vehicle. And I've never adjusted my tire pressure when taking a trip to...

    selecting tires

I recently bought the same truck. I just put on four new P255/70R-16 BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A. I got them from tirerack.com at a great deal. They're similar to the Long Trail but a bit more rugged. They drive very nice. I can't tell the difference between these and the long trails that...
