addovox,
I tapped into the speakers with wire taps right behind the OEM receiver. Use the taps with a side male post so that you can easily remove/change the connections without having to cut any wires. Plus you can leave the taps there if you decide to get rid of your vehicle in the future...
addovox,
Dude there is a post on the firewall near the battery that you can connect to, thats what I did. I also ran the power along the firewall to the driver side and through the boot that is there. I used 4 gauge power wire to the fuse holder and 8 gauge from there since I was only running 1...
addovox,
I used 6.5's all around...
In the rear I used the speaker brackets from Crutchfield. Up front the Diamond 6.5's were too large to fit into the brackets so they went straight on the doors with some dynamat surrounding them. I also put the crossovers in the small space under the console.
addovox,
I installed new speakers in all four doors. Diamond components up front and I decided on MB Quart in the rear. I am using a 4 channel infinity amp "under the console" and my stock stereo. I didn't need any adapters from the stereo since my amp had speaker level inputs "meaning it has an...
You're absolutely correct. I have come across some forums that refer to a "green" wire that contains the chime and removed or cut off would remove the chime. Unfortunately it removes all alerts including door open, seatbelt and reverse.
I still think the way to go it to attach the potentiometer...
Man I hope so I have the same issue and its driving me crazy! Damn its LOUD! My only idea is to figure out what wire is the signal for the loudness and add a potentiometer inline to lower the volume. Its what the harnesses that allow for lowering chime/onstar volume. Its worth as shot...

I'm going to try them out just as they are and see how they blend in with the new. If they don't blend well I will just leave them as is and disconnect power to them. In previous vehicles I have found that the stock tweeters usually blend well because the components overpower.

Since you have done this install would you say it would be easier to not use the adapter and just tap into the speaker outputs directly to a "speaker-level input" amp and then back out to the speakers. Since I don't have the Bose system I figured I could use that space for my 4-channel amp...
JP Customs - Gone?
I am new to this forum, all great info thanks!
Everyone references this JP Customs "Miracle Adapter" but it seems that JP Customs has gone offline. Anyone know anything about them going under? If so where do we now get these great adapters?
I just purchased my 2008 Chevy Tahoe and one of the reasons I purchased was the Flex Fuel option. I am in Northern San Diego County and we just had a new ethanol pump installed at the gas station right around the corner from our home. I am interested in hearing if anyone else is using it. I know...
