Default Power Train Module, update?

Took my 2002 Tahoe 4wd 5300 engine, 115,000 miles to a new service provider (old one retired) for routine oil change & lube. It was recommended that I have the power train module updated with the "latest program". ($150)

I'm the original owner and every part of the power train has always worked as it should. The engine runs great, transmission shift points are consistent, no warning lights advising of any power train problems have ever come on. I realize it's 15 years old but is there any reason this update is necessary?
