Does anyone know if the 2nd row bucket sets can be replaced with a 2nd row bench seat in a 07 tahoe? And what is involved in the swap? I have finally found the right truck for me, except that its got bucket seats and I NEED a bench seat in the 2nd row. I would think that the mounting brackets would be the same for either configuration, but I need to know for sure.

Thanks everyone,
Chad

I looked at doing this as well and I'll let you know what I gathered from various forums. To swap you need to acquire the following from the same wheelbase vehicle (tahoe to tahoe, not suburban to tahoe):

bench seat
brackets for bench seat
plastic (?) panels that go on top of brackets

From what I've read and seen in pictures and seen at the dealer, the bench seat has an extra bracket towards the middle of the floor to secure it to the vehicle. Also, the covering panels are different. You aren't able to simply find a bench seat and do the swap. Also, people have assumed that the mounting points for the additional bracket are present on bucket equipped vehicles, you would need to remove the panels and maybe some of the carpeting to gain access and secure the new bracket to the vehicle floor. I haven't seen confirmation of this though nor have I read of anybody actually completing this switch.

I don't know if you could find a bench from a yukon and put it into a tahoe, it seems like it would work (provided it isn't from a yukon xl), but no one has confirmed.

I hope this helps. The consesus is that this could be done but haven't seen it done yet.

Good luck and keep us updated!

We chose a 2nd row bench for the pure fact that it is easier to fit three people in the second row bench than in the 3rd row bench. It makes it more comfortable for all having a bench rather than buckets.

I don't know if it can be done or not but I have the second row bench and would love to trade for buckets. Providing it can be done fairly easily.

:iagree:

I plan on taking out the 3rd row seats most of the time, and only using them 2 or 3 times a year. I will need the extra space in the back for stuff and tools (believe it or not, I will be using this as a "truck"). So, with no 3rd row, and only bucket sets in the 2nd row it only seats 4 people, which is not good enough for my situation. In addition, I like the way the bench "separates" the passenger area from the "trunk" of the vehicle. It provides a visual, and a physical barrier between passengers and all my junk that will be in the back at any given time.

Hey I don't know if this will help you, but I replaced my 05 Denali XL (heated seats) with heated buckets. It's just 8 bolts (2 on the outer bench 4 in the middle and 2 on the other outer), as well as the male/female connector for the heated seat components. I did it by myself, and it only took about 2 hours or so; the bulk of your time will be getting the seats. Unless you have help they're pretty heavy. If you look underneath the seats you will see the bolts. It's a direct bolt up without any modifications. Had another buddy that took the bench seats that I took out and put them into his blue crystal XL because he needed an 8 seat configuration because he was driving to Florida. Just my .02.

I appreciate the info. I have read the same, the problem I'm having is that everyone has what I have (buckets) in the 07-14 or they have a bench that doesn't have the same options. The leather ebony heated electric folding bench seems pretty rare and hard to find. I have two very small children where both of their car seats are turned backwards so in order to use the 3rd row some either has to climbing and over the 3rd row or in the through the front doors and over the console.

I got my seats from the Pickapart place around the corner from my house. I was hunting for about 2 months and I finally got a phone call that said they were in. Cost was about 220, but the seats were exact matches. I have 2 front facing car seats...we actually put the car seats in the 3rd row and fold the 2nd row seats up. Feels like it's a bit more spacious like that.

Yes. Just did my 08 Tahoe from buckets to 60/40 split bench. The 60/40 drops right in to your existing mounts. I thought there would be an extra mount but there is not. The 60 portion base overlaps the 40. A total of eight 18mm hex nuts and two 13mm hex nuts for the two inner bolts where the 60/40 join together. I am working on getting the single piece seat mount cover since the captains seat mount covers don't work.

Note: Make sure the seat is out of a 07-14 Tahoe/Yukon. Suburban/Yukon XL will not work since their floor pan for the 2nd row is flat at the rear mounts of the seats. Tahoe/Yukon has a raised mounting surface at the rear.

Looking to do this swap myself. IT is actually this post that made me join the forums. Have an 08 Tahoe LTZ with second row bucket seats.

At the hospital now waiting on our third child, first girl, to be born. We realized that have a 4 and 2 year old in the third row is very inconvenient. Best solution is a bench conversion. Otherwise we'll be looking to buy new and that is unfavorable as we own our tahoe and dislike payments.

If woulda fit I would trade my great condition '03 Tahoes pewter/shale leather (shade of gray) 2nd row bench (with all brackets hardware & fold down panels) for 2nd row leather buckets (with all brackets & hardware) in a heartbeat.

Limits storage with buckets over bench but be easier for kids & dog to get into third row seats\rear.

2011 2nd row bench

I need a 2nd row bench for my 2011 Tahoe, I found a new cloth bench from a 2015 tahoe that the guy swears will fit. Before I drive out to get the bench I want to double check that it will fit over the existing bolts in the truck. Does anyone know if it will fit or where I can get this info without calling my local dealer?
Thank you.
