Hey guys,

I got back from my 2200mi trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and back. I promised to post some pics as well as report on how well the Tahoe did in the snow. I didn't get a lot of pics, partly due to the fact that it was so cold:

(That's negative in case you didn't notice)

On the way up I'd say a small minority of the roads were nice like this:

Half were more like this:

And the other ones were so bad I wasn't peeling my white knuckled hands off of the steering wheel to take a picture

The Tahoe exceeded all of my expectations for snow. With 4 wheel drive engaged it was a beast in anything from deep snow to hard packed snow. Auto mode works great, I left it in there for most of the U.P. The only issue I had was when I had it in auto mode and went to pass a snow plow, i was about next to him when I saw some head lights crest a hill in a ways off, i decided to punch it a little harder, it down-shifted and started to fishtail for a split second then the front half kicked in and pulled me straight again. It could have engaged a little quicker for my taste...actually its my fault for where I was I should have had it in 4hi anyway. But we got there safe and sound:

The Ski-doo in the picture was the one I rented/rode (somebody asked me to include a pic of it as well). If you have any questions, fire away.

Glad you had a good trip and made it back in one piece! How'd the Hoe handle the extreme cold of things like AM start ups? Do you have the engine block heater, or no?

Also, just wondering, did you see any aurora action up there at night?

Did you get in lots of good snowmobiling, or was it too cold?

Thanks! I don't have the block heater, and the Tahoe started right up, no hesitation at all. I remote started it on the coldest day, so I really can't tell you how quick it started then... We didn't see any Northern Lights, we've seen them before but not this time. We got in some good snowmobiling, it was cold, but we had nice warm clothes and lots of layers. Our last day we went a little over 200 miles the trails were so nice.

dang man thats cold, i thought i was gunna die in 28 degree weather here in chicago. o yea my kon handled great in the little snow we got, there was one morning that was only 12 and she started right up. with a weaker sound but no hesitation or extra start time. o yea and i learned that pulling a sled behind a truck is the most fun i have had in a LOOOOOONG time. sorry no pics. i have been VERY busy and only time to goof off after dark so pics would have been bad anyway. but i never even used 4wd.

Nope I didn't get stuck or even close to it. I did actually get to use my tow strap though. Some guy in a Taurus slid into a snow bank up to his axle. I asked him if he wanted me to pull him out and he said yes. I got the tow strap attached (after finding out that the tow "hooks" we have are really tow loops) and pulled him out very easily.

I forgot to mention one problem I had. The rear windshield wiper froze up a few times. It would just stop wiping at all. You can see in the one picture where I'm parked that it isn't down like it should be, that is because it was frozen. It works fine when you knock all the ice off...

Man, I love those snowy pics. Wish it snowed here. My family moved to TX back in 86 from Indiana. I miss the snow. Pictures like that remind me of growing up and going to my grandparent's house during the holidays when I was kid. Great pictures man.
