That place sounds like somewhere I'd avoid like Jiffy Lube. I bet they use real good quality filters and fluids... You are due for front and rear diff services, but their reason is pretty bad. I work for a dealer and this is how we recommend the fluid services: at 30k differentials are due...
Personally, I would go with the GMPP policy. They don't put up a fight with repairs as long as the concern is legitimate. Plus they will use new GM parts for the repair as well. I've seen Fidelity put a junk yard transmission in an Envoy at work after taking 2 weeks to finally approve that...
There is no need to use a longer filter, these engines run MUCH cleaner than the older engines and don't need it. If you thing these trucks use a baby filter go look at the filter the import cars use, it's less than half the size these trucks use. If you use a good quality filter, there's...
Wow, I've never seen one of these trucks with peeling paint before. I don't much care for the bumper cap that goes over the stock bumper, that seems pretty shoddy if you ask me but hopefully it'll still look good for you. That really sucks about the extra body damage, it's amazing people who...
Get underneath and make sure there aren't any leaks, especially on the front differential (front diff leaks are very common). Check fluid levels, too. Just because you can't see it dripping doesn't mean it isn't leaking, which is usually the case with a coolant pump. Make sure the 4WD...
No, they were not professionals. You can anywhere and buy the Gorilla lug nut key for $4. Professionals would not have done the blocks like that. They lifted up each corner and took the wheels off and then put the blocks under the rotors. A professional would not have done it that way...
A water pump does pay 2 hours and the list price on a GM pump is $290. I would suggest going with the GM pump though. They come with a new thermostat and housing where the aftermarket ones do not and I have a sneaky suspicion that even the "new" pumps are rebuilt. Head gaskets are pretty rare...
That's probably the case then. Here are the choices for GM transfer cases: ATF, Auto Trak II, GL-5, and Manual Trans Fluid. If the parts department looked up your VIN and they said you need manual trans fluid, then that's what you need. The GM manual trans fluid is red too so don't get...
The damper would help for something like that, but it sounded like the OP is talking about the steering feels way overassisted all the time (and especially noticeable in parking lot maneuvers).
I don't know what to tell you then, your truck has the EVO steering and when the system is working properly it should not feel overassisted or too easy to turn. They feel just the same as the 03-06 trucks.
The rear diffs take about 2.5 quarts so you'll need 3 bottles for that. The front diff takes about 1.75 quarts so you'll need 2 bottles for that. The parts department at the dealer will be able to look up the correct fluid for the transfer case by your VIN. An 04 Tahoe will not have a drain...
That sounds like overassisted to me. That would pobably be the EVO sensor on the bottom of the steering column. The I-shaft replacement is for clunking. There is absolutly no need to add a steering dampener. Whenever the system senses something is wrong it gives full steering assist at all...
