From what i understand the sun shell used in these trannies had some quality issues. Some are ok and some were flawed ans caused the tranny to fail early. If you get a good one the tranny should last a long time provided its well maintained and not beat on.
Have a shop pressure test your system to find the leak. I just had mine done and it turned out to be the watepump internal seals. Its a slow enough leak to where I can see the coolant loss in the overlow tank but there's never a puddle under he truck.
I disagree about the tranny fluid. Some shops say not to do a full tranny flush but as long the fluid looks good drop the pan, change the filter and get some new fluid in there.
The fluid will flow just fine with the pedal up. Your vac pump will pull it through the lines. Make sure you keep an eye on the MC so it doesn't get too low or you'll be suckin in air.
Does anyone know the color of the original rear diff fluid on a 2000 tahoe? I just changed the fluid and it kind of had a slight bluish color. I'm not sure if this was the original fluid or not since it has 80,000 miles. I can say I was not very impressed with it. I took it for a ride before...
Funny I had that idea already. Did you notice and increase in performance or mileage? I saw another post where someone modified the bottom with a tube that went below to suck in more cold air. I also found some cheap cold air tubing that could replace the restrictive stock tube. I want to do...
Hello,
I recently purchased a 2000 tahoe 5.7 and have a question about the thermostat. I seem to be running around 160 but from what I have read it should be more like 195. My guess is the former owner possibly installed the 160 thermostat to work with an aftermarket chip. My question is is it...
Can ayone explain the benefit of getting the full cold air intake over just getting the K&N filter that fits in the stock box? I'd like to see some modest performance and mpg gains and was thinking of one of these combined with a higher flowing muffler. Any thoughts?
I guess it could be the G-05 yellow coolant or they just dilited the dexool way too much but I have no way of knowing for sure what they used. I'm going to try to call again tomorrow and see if i can't get an answer as to what type of coolant they actually used.
I just pulled some out of the radiator and put in in a clear glass. It did have a very light orange appearance so I'm guessing that its in fact dexcool. It smelled like coolant as well so i think I'm ok. I was under the impression that dex was more red but i really have no experience with it...
Hello I just got my new to me 2000 5.7 tahoe. I bought it from a dealer who was supposed to replace the radiator before delivering it to me. They replaced the radiator but when I looked in the coolant recovery tank it looked clear and in fact I'm pretty sure its water. I called and asked and...
