Just an update to my last post-it wasn't tranny nor u joints(maybe-2 had been changed) but a brake shoe. It lost a chunk and the rivets were rubbing on the drum. Since they've been now flattened until I get the replacement shoes the noise is gone. For future reference to those who have similar...

99 z71-94000 miles. Just waiting for intake gaskets and tranny to go lol.

I don't have this problem so far but I found this on you tube https://youtu.be/2q1OVWBed3U The guy strips the cluster and fixes the gauges. Try that maybe-it's unlikely it's the sender failing. Hope this helps.
