My 07 Tahoe was doing this all the time. Someone on here who had the same problem suggested holding down the start button for like 10 seconds instead of a few and that has worked for me so far too...
LOL... well, I stand by my observation that my truck doesn't track remote start idle in the DIC metrics. Maybe there is a TSB out there or a GM Tech lurking that might shed some light on whether or not GM's philosophy changed in the software programming sometime after mine was built.
Again...
FWIW, my GF has an 09 Malibu and she has the same driving conditions and warm up conditions as me and is also using a factory remote start.
Her MPG computer does appear to factor in remote-start idle time since her MPGs on the 4 cylinder Malibu drop from 22+ city to around 14-15 city now that...
I'm positive on this having owned the truck through 2.5 winters. I have an early build 07 (March 2006) so maybe this does not affect all of the new generation models.
Our winter temps are often single digits in the morning (we had -19 to -22 air temps last week) with high winds (and a wind...
If you use remote start, that idle time does not count on the gallons used. In the winter I am easily 4-5 gallons off from the DIC. Summer time the DIC and pump meter is a lot closer since I don't remote start it.
My GF has an 09 Malibu with BlueTooth and she was having similar connectivity issues. She took it in and they had a software update that fixed the problem, after dealership called in to GM tech support for direction.
I believe the owners manual says to change oil every 12 months or at 0% oil life indicator, which ever comes first. 5yr/100k powertrain warranty... so who cares? I run it down to 3-4% every time... which means I change organic oil every 9 months or so with 6k mostly city miles.
Maybe it...
I have the 2wd 2007 Tahoe here in Central IL. Not as much snow as WIS, but haven't had any problems at all (except for once doing something stupid - my fault). Be sure to get the G80 locking rear diff, though, big help.
If you upgrade to the GM accessory 2way Advanced Remote Start (ARSS) the range bumps out to like 900 feet. Getting a confirmation on startup when out of sight line is a BIG plus. I think I paid less than $200 for the upgrade. Check it out... several threads here on it.
