May be the fuel check valve. Got same problem. Never drive the car under 1/4 tank. CAN do it yes, but dont stop engine. You will have to refill up to about 3/8tank before you start. Many gallons. A tip is to not crank engine before you have primed pump 5 - 6 times before you crank engine...

Since you're going to take a ATF change, it would not take any much more to install a cooler. But if you have to choose, I would go for atf change.

two tahoes nearby (included mine) got this 4wd service when the transfercase began to leak oil. Topping up made this lamp disappear. Got this leak because the shafts sealings got bad.

A local store said that the pipes is for transferring only, and have no pressures. And besides, the pipe that was damaged was the return oil from cooler, no pressure at all. Fixed it by cutting the pipe, putting a hose on, with clampes on ends. Just as rockman said. No problems at all...

Flushing underbody and engine. Looks like the two cooling pipes for the transmission oil going to the cooler in bumper has been damaged. Either the belt or the tensioner have grinded the upper pipe. I'll get pictures when Im under again. Are those cooling kits included with thermostats...
