My dad has a 95 Chevy work truck (same thing) with 265,000. Mechanically the same other than the whole "having a bed" deal. But it's not a Tahoe so it doesn't really count..

Everyone on here says how the transmissions aren't very high quality and go bad a lot. But why exactly is that? Do they fail often on the ones made prior to 1996? My dad has a truck with 265,000 miles on it with no tranny rebuilds and it shifts perfectly. The 4L60-E is only rated to handle...

AEM Brute Force intake. I've heard those are pretty good. Expensive, but good. Also the FRAM Boost intake is a rebadged AEM. Cheaper too. I hate FRAM but they didn't make it so it's not so bad.

It does look nice, but I'm being really picky about it. I want a Vortec. I've driven the 350 TBI and the Vortec and I really like the Vortec that much more. So 96-99 is what I'm searching for. I guess I should've added that when I said the cheapest one was only 5900.

Eh..possibly 200 or so. I guess I'm not that desperate yet. EDIT:The cheapest two door within 300 miles is 5900..What junk is that?

I look at everything. Autotrader, Craigslist, etc..I do about 100 mile radius search. Is it worth driving that far? After gas and stuff I'm not sure if I would.

Yeah, if I look long enough the perfect one will come up. I saw one just last weekend and I went over to the dealership Monday night and it was already sold by then, so I better pounce on them quick. And driving one or two hours is ok with me, I've been checking OKC classifieds and such..but...

I was wondering that too. He described it as "out of the crate" so I thought it was the modified Vortec "Ramjet" or something like that. Not some rebuilt old TBI.

I was really nervous about the engine as well, but it's transferable and he has the paperwork. And 5000 is just about the least I've seen for a 2 door around me, which really blows. And we talked and he'll only go down to 4700ish. I'll probably keep looking, I really want a Vortec anyways! 55...
