Did you ever fix this issue? If so what was the cause? I am haveing the same issue with my 04, I have replaced everything but the powersteering pump and lines. Inner/outter tie rods, center link pitman and idler arms, and finally the gear box. still no fix.

So I have been reading a lot about the steering wheel position sensor and how to replace it. I have a 2004 4.8 and have looked in the area where it is suposed to be and cannot find anything that fits the description. Can anyone tell me if all the tahoe models have these sensors.

Try tightning the four bolts that hold the transmission cross brace in. That might do the trick.
