Well, I found the issue...this little device is missing, I am not sure what it is, maybe a small resistor or maybe a fuse, but perhaps someone will tell me. Maybe I just need to solder it shorted?

Ok, I can only get this sucker to work if I bang on it hard a bunch of times...wiggling the connector doesn't seem to help...so I don't think the connector is the issue. I suspect it is a bad solder joint on the circuit board. Wonder if someone has experienced this and found a cold solder...
