    05 Tahoe 5.3 issues

Weird Problems I had a variety of odd electrical issues and random error messages on the DIC. As it turned out, the positive battery cable was loose with a lot of white corrosion under the cable. It was hidden under the red plastic safety cap. I am surprised it started. Easy thing to check...

    Rear A/C fuses - under seat ??

Possible Ride Control Compressor? Is it possible the sound is coming from outside but sounds like it is coming from inside? My ride control compressor failed and made much more noise than usual, easily audible from inside even with the windows up. Just a thought.

    Which one???

... and my mechanic suggested 2H but every month or so, put the transmission in neutral (while sitting still) and the engine running and cycle it through each of the ranges giving it 5 or 10 seconds each to complete the cycle. Ours gets serious use in 4H or 4Auto once or twice a year otherwise...

Thinking about buying a low mileage 2005 Tahoe

We have a 2005 Tahoe LS 4WD. We bought it new. It has 110K miles. We tow, camp, ski, and beach with it. It has had a few problems, mostly with the 4WD, but otherwise has been a great vehicle. Sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding the sale but if they've taken decent care of it...

    Resetting oil change notice?

Oil Change Reset On my 2005, with the oil life percentage displayed, press and hold the next button (the arrow button on the steering wheel that you cycle through the tire pressures with) until it says "Oil Life Reset" (or similar - I can't remember exactly) and press again. If this doesn't...

    4wd problems

yup I totally agree. Check connections and less expensive things first. I learned long ago that when I threw parts at a problem without a genuine diagnosis I usually got several new parts I didn't need before I landed on the right one. I confess to taking mine in these days to someone...

    4wd problems

I have a 2005 Tahoe with 100K+ miles on it. The truck has been virtually trouble free EXCEPT the 4WD. Without going back and looking at the receipts, over the years I recall having an encoder motor sensor, actuator, and servo(?) fail. The symptoms have ranged from not engaging 4H (but would...

    Decisions, decisions....

Features, Service, looming costs OK, I'll bite. You didn't give too many particulars except mileage. 15K miles isn't terribly significant, in my view, if it's been cared for. Here are the things I would consider, probably in this order: - service record, no two owners treat their vehicles...

2002 Tahoe LT - Grinding noise

I guess I don't know if your truck and mine are more noisy than others. Maybe somebody else will chime in. Oddly enough, for someone who normally asks about every little noise, I've never asked if this noise is "normal"... I've loaded my Tahoe with people and things and it seems to do what it...

2002 Tahoe LT - Grinding noise

I don't know about grind, but it is very audible. Closest I can describe it is it sounds like a tiny jack-hammer. :) As I recall, without looking, the compressor is mounted on the frame by the rear axle. If you get out or put your head out the window it should sound like it is behind you...

2002 Tahoe LT - Grinding noise

Possible Autoride? You didn't say, but if it is coming from the back and not the engine compartment, maybe it is your autoride compressor adjusting the height of the rear shocks? The back bumper should raise very slowly when the compressor is running. It will also run longer if you load up...

Factory Elec Cooling Fan Set Temp

I'm sorry if this question has been asked already. I've looked but cannot find any definitive answer to this question... My 2005 Chevy Tahoe with trailer towing package and increased cooling has 2 electric cooling fans. One is quieter and seems to come on with the a/c and maybe other times...
