From what i can tell mine is all original 97 i bought with 188k on the dash. I did a full tune up once i got it home..ie replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor and upgraded the fuel injectors. On the highway it avg'd 15.5 mpg on recent 627 mile each way road trip loaded with lugguage and 5 peeps.

have a 97 with 188k. Drove from Jville,fl to NE MS this weekend and got a little over 16 mpg. That was based on 4 fill ups.

I personally would just filter and fluid change. Have read that flushing can do more damage than good in older transmissions.

97 tahoe here with 187k. Noticed a vibration at highway speeds. Checked the tires once i stopped and noticed that two of them were warped/bubbled causing the vibration so you may check those....

DAYUMMMMMM!!!!! Just replaced the water pump on my 97 5.7l tahoe.....Less than $40.00 lifetime warranty at Pep Boys and about an hour worth of my time. As for the water pump needing to be replaced because the thermostat being bad....new one to me....wierd

I feel ur pain treepete, had a 1/4 tank yesterday and dropped 75.00 into the tank to fill it up. My only saving grace is that I have a company take home vehicle so I only drive the hoe in the evenings and weekends.....And even then I usually hope on the zx10 if the weather is decent and i don't...

Running your tank almost empty can also allow trash to be sucked into the fuel filter causing it to become blocked up which will also put a strain on the fuel filter.....as a rule i try to never let my tank get below 1/4 tank

It sounds more like a fuel issue than a starter issue. Engine needs the proper fuel/air ratio to run properly. I would start at cheapest ie....fuel filter and go from there. Also you may want to check the fuel pressure at the rail.

I used it a couple weeks ago on my 97 with 186k that i just bought. Used 2/3 can through booster vacuum and the rest in the tank. Also sprayed the throttle body with the spray can. Shortly after i got a misfire cylinder 8 code. Narrowed it down to the fuel injecter. Drove it another week to see...
