Don't forget the DC kits :) Mine with the dual shock hoop and everything was about 1700 shipped. 300 more for the procomp springs. I agree that the procomp sounds like a perfect fit for you.

Everyone is saying the samething...because we are right. Low cost or cheap dictates the end product most of the time. I wish things were cheaper too. If you are going to invest any money into it...save and do it right the first time. Doing it twice with crap will cost you more in the end...

Buy the DC / Extreme kit, than get Procomp or skyjack 6" springs. I ordered the Procomps, little lower cost but also a stifer ride than the skyjackers or so I am told. With the new springs in back I picked up 1.5" over the 5" block.

I have the DC kit and it is great, procomp is also a very nice kit. Since you tow alot make sure you opt to swap the springs and don't use blocks. So procomp and DC should be your best bets, both have very high praise everywhere. See my pictures and look for 96procomp. The pictures I...

Also try parking the truck on a hill with the drivers door facing down. Doesn't have to be be a big hill or slant but it helps...if the option is out there. That can buy you some time until it gets warm. Look at it like this...soon it won't be raining much and snow never gets in mine.

WOW!, How's the ride in that? 3" out of keys is way too much. If you want a cheap 3" lift get a body lift. Cranking on torsion bars puts so much strain on the front end, you will be replacing parts as fast as you can buy them.

on 3.73 gears with my 35s I get about 8.5 right now...keep in mind when I am geared properly I only get 12-12.5 though. If I wanted good gas milage I'd drive some little tiny honda or something...I prefer loud, big and well big.

Plus tires, alignment, install or do it yourself, and gears to match the tires. Keep these things in mind. Good luck and keep us posted!

:iagree: Suspension lift is the best way...if you are going to spend the money on a three inch, trust me and go six. I was in the same boat. Before you know it you will want a 6" lift. Save up and do it right the first time.

The truck ran fine with out the tune....much better with it. It really is a drop in replacement, the tune just wakes it up. As for a weak link, haven't found it yet. I replaced the tranny at the same time, stock one. I can honestly say i drive the truck hard, but also take care of it very...

The HT383E is a great motor. Milage on stock tires and 3.73 gears with somewhat average driving is about 12.5. You WILL need a custom program to get it to run correctly. It will run really lean until you do. I had mine dyno tuned and advise the same to anyone looking into this motor...

My advice is drop a little cash on a 6" suspension lift, you will be much happier and the truck will look and ride better. Cranking torsion bars put a lot of stress on the front end

Anything over a 35" tire needs at least a 4.10 in my opinion. I am running a 35" with 3.73 right now and I think it is a bit sluggish. I am pushing a decent bit of power too. A stock motor needs gears, it will be easier on your tranny also. I am going with a 4.56 here shortly.

They are tough trucks. I am not exactly what you would call "nice" in the way I drive my vehicles. I come from a chevy family, dad has a tahoe and a tahoe before that (corvettes and GTOs at his younger years), mom drives a Pontiac trans am WS6, brother had a built Z-28, we also build motors...

"U" joints. Also part of it is just the way it is. The colder weather makes it more drastic. With a brand new engine and trans it still happens to me.

I agree with these guys. Plus Whiplash is commonly known as "Whiptrash". If you want big a SAS (solid axle swap) is a must. The IFS will not hold up with huge tires. The 6" suspension and 3" body lift will give the a good result.

Iwould stick to a 35 or 36 inch tire

The lifts start to ride stiffer when you crank the torsion bars more for more lift. I have dual shocks up front so mine is a litrle rough over small little bumps in the road, but all in all it rides great.
