i google searched body lift install & i came to one set of directions that say you must cut the automatic shift linkage and weld a 3" piece in !!!!???? is this really done ??? do i have to weld this extension in place on the linkage ???

if i put a 3" body lift on a stock 97 tahoe can i fit 285/75/16 (33's)...on the stock rims???
