to those who have replaced fuel filter

So why is there a difference in clips between regular fuel and flex? I just did my 04 Yukon XL a few weekends ago. I didn't spend a whole lot of time before I just grabbed the saw and cut it off since I didn't have the tool. (Fire extinguisher nearby just in case.) What I found was what...

    chips on the windshield

I have full coverage on my Yukon and my insurance will cover rock chip repairs for free. I think that in their eyes they would rather cough up a little dough to repair the chips then to let the windshield crack and have to be replaced.

    Oil drops in front.

In my adventures, this is a very debated subject. Some say that rubber lines will not handle the pressure. However, I have ran rubber transmission line in a lot of vehicles and have never had an issue. I am sure that these lines are not cheap. If it were me, I would probably cut my line. Buy a...

    Flowmaster Exhaust Question

I had flowmaster 40 series on my old 82 Scottsdale. True duals. Off the headers, into dual muffs, and then out the back. 2.5 inch piping all the way. This truck gets used to plow with now. It has been through almost 5 winters now up here in the great frozen North. It has seen many miles in...

    Rusted Bolts help

All the above! If I am ever working on exhaust, I will let the vehicle sit for as long as I can. And then I just religiously soak everything in pentrating oil. If I walk by it, I spray it. If I think about it, I go out and spray it. Sometimes I have more penetrating oil all over the dang...

    Oil drops in front.

Engine oil dipstick should not be running. Transmission fluid should be checked with the engine idling and with the transmission at normal operating temps. And while checking the level, take some fluid and put it on your finger and rub. You should not feel any grit. If you do, you need to...

    04 Yukon-Vibration at idle-Help!

My 04 Yukon XL sometimes has a little shake at idle. It has bugged me since I owned it, but I am thinking that when I get time this summer to clean the throttle body, this might just go away. I also am going to take the time to check plugs and such to. On my last trip down to WI, it was...

    Oil drops in front.

The AC belt, isn't that a serpentine belt? So it runs everything right? Or is this a seperate belt on the 2000's? Red fluid would normally mean transmission. Unless is pinkish then you may be seeing Dexcool. My guess is that the belt flew off. If it's not broke, then you need to find out...

how do you release fuel pressure before changing fuel filter???

I've always just cracked the line. I also make sure that I remove the filler cap just in case there is some pressure built up in the tank. Otherwise I just crack the line and let it blead out on it's own. On my 04 Trailblazer I had, I just unsnapped the coupler and released it that way.

    MPGs on long road trips

Slow it down. This is the biggest improvement in mileage. Keep it around 60 or 65 and you will see your best gains. Do not mix octane ratings. Stick with one rating. Let's say you fill up your tank with 87 octane and head on out. Next stop the 91 octane is cheaper so you think, what the heck...

    Raising Tow Capacity

I am a member on a 3500HD forum as well and this topic comes up A LOT. Changing tow capacity really isn't an option. Even if you upgrade springs, tires, hitch, brakes, etc. Get into an accident, kill someone, have it proven that you were over what the recommended vehicle rating is, and you are...

    Muffler Specs on 2001 Tahoe

You can always find out the O.D. if you have an adjustable wrench large enough. Or even a pipe wrench would work. Open the wrench until it slides around the pipe. Measure the distance between jaws and that is our O.D.

K&N cai and magnaflow killed my miliage/power!! Help

Yanking the battery cable might do the trick. It is possible to that exhaust and intake at one time was a big change for the computer. They take a while to re-adjust themselves to the new conditions. I have heard this is how most people find out about their dirty throttle body. They replace...

    Second Opinion.. I need

$3400 was probably your wife's price. I hate these shops that take advantage of women and treat them like they don't know a damn thing. I can't help you out much more with your issue though. That is one odd problem that I haven't heard of before. Good luck! And thank you for your service...

2004 Yukon Steering Click noises? Help!

The one on my Yukon was doing the same thing. I had mine replaced by the dealer when I had to have my gas tank replaced due to a cracked vent that was allowing gas to seep out. My warranty covered the shaft. (and the tank to!)

Grinding noise coming from out back..............

Sometimes Ujoints can be tricky to diagnose. The one that I had the slight noise after releasing the throttle, I actually had to take apart. I took 3 cups off and thought that I was nuts because they all had grease, all looked great. Got to the 4th cup and it was like dust in there. The seal...

    Hello to all... Brakes

 I just had to respond to your post! Funny stuff right there! You are right though on the fluid. I have never completely flushed an ABS system out and the thought scares me. I have done a complete brake job on my 69 Cutlass and that took forever. I didn't have any fancy tools for that...

    Hello to all... Brakes

I just got my Yukon so I have no idea if these are original brakes or not. I checked the pads and I am assuming they are not because they have an orangeish looking backing plate. I was not happy to see the rotors though. Evidently the previous owner didn't do much maintenance or even looking...

    Gas Mileage Help

Grab a $10 bill, light it on fire, let it burn itself out. You have gained more power there then the magnet will ever give you. My dad got one in a box full of stuff at an auction. We put it on my old Scottsdale. I didn't notice a single difference except for a magnet hanging off my fuel line.

Grinding noise coming from out back..............

Another thing to just check is the Ujoints. I have had rubbing/grinding noises, squeaking noises, clunking noises, I even had one set that would make a slight squeaking noise but only if you let off the throttle. Seems like every time I have a Ujoint go out on something, it is a new noise...
