Well, 5 years later there are actually 2 component sets. the SD and the SA. The SD set is what the SA set was originally but with a different tweeter. The current SA set has been improved. So that is still the best one, it's just better than it was 5 years ago.

This is actually a 2 year old thread, the version 2 parts just came in stock. They are low end monsters, if you're after 20-45 hz range they do very well. They're a very clean sounding sub, great output.

Interesting, that must be what fails on all the factory speakers then. You'd be better of taking that connector apart and soldering your own wire on. Or, soldering to the lead at the connector.

At the connector itself on the back side of it, it's corroded? Not at the cone? Are you sure it's corrosion and not just ripped? Is it black at all? Bose speakers aren't worth getting. Aftermarket will be cheaper and sound better.

It sounds like your speakers were on the way out and moving them around finished them off. Those factory speakers are known for going in and out when you hit bumps or close doors before they finally die all together. You can easily determine that with your DMM, check impedance of the speakers...

No, turning it on with something disconnected won't harm it. Did you turn the radio off every time you were connecting and disconnecting?

It's still possible it's the phone. It's not often I don't think bluetooth doesn't sound terrible.

The number of subs only has 1 bearing, final impedance. All the subs I carry have either dual 1, dual 2, or dual 4 coils. So you could do an odd number, but you'd get an odd impedance at the amp, potentially not optimal. Sealed or ported depends on which driver you're wanting to use...

DRL's have nothing to do with the radio. Were the wires not connected the orange or orange and white stripe? If so, those are for illumination and dimmer, both of which do things based on ground or 12v trigger. If you short the wire it will cause the dash lights to go out, which may be on the...
