My tahoe does the same thing yours does and I have over 200k on the clock and I drive mine like I stole it. If you end up putting a new motor in I would stick in a 6.0 just for the fact they are cheap.
I change mine around 10k-15k it is at 225k miles and stills runs strong. I also use famous walmart oil! lol It has alot of miles on it so even if it does blow they are cheap enough now to replace.
I would get a Volant CAI. As for a cat back I wouldnt waste my money. I would just go to a exhaust shop and get a magnaflow, flowmaster, etc. replacement muffler.
I think I might know what you are talking about. I just put those 2 spade connecters in my factory harness then put on alot of electrical tape then zip tied everything tight against the bumper brackets.
Depending on what drive train you get the 03+ silverado and escalade had the 4L65 or if you plan on getting one out of a tahoe it will be a 4L60. 00-02 are cable throttle bodies not electronic.
Besides the electronic throttle body on the new 03 - 06 and the 4L65 I dont think anything is different really so it would be alot of work for nothing.
you could swap in a 6.0l and you can use your existing accessories and connectors and plus it is a cheap swap. All you have to do is a find a long block.
