    Front differential seal failure

I don't think that any dealer is going to cover the flushing do your diff under warranty, even though it seems like they should. I have a hard time believing that grass got in there... moisture I can see, but not grass. Just do the flushing yourself. It isn't hard, there is a drain plug and a...

    Fel-Pro MS98000T intake gaskets

I have installed quite a few of this new style gasket. They make it for the 3800 and 3100/3400 V6's also. It is a far superior design. I haven't used the new style gm gasket or the bolt, but from what I understand the bolt has a shoulder so you can't over torque it. The fel-pro gasket just...

How well do Tahoes hold up past 100K? Help

Judging by your screen name I'm going to guess you pull a good size boat. If this is true how do you pull it out of the water? Do you use 2wd 4wd or 4lo? I've seen tons of trannys taken out (all different brands) by guys pulling boats out of the water in 2 or 4hi. What happens is you step on...

    02 tahoe bad knock sensor

This is a common problem on the 5.3's. The knock sensor is probably all corroded up. It sits down in a well in the valley pan and collects mositure. You will likely need a harness too. On the new one the tsb says to seal the harness with silicone so it don't happen again.

    Too Lean

I've ran into a lot of problems with the bosch plugs at work, I wouldn't use them. If you had the problem before they were put in it's obviously not the problem though. Try plugging the vac. hose to the brake booster. This will eliminate a bad booster. Also try unplugging the MAF and see...

Best plug wires / cap / rotor?

I hate to tell you this, but if your dist. gear was that worn, your cam is shot. The gear on the camshaft is going to eat your new gear up in a short amount of time. I've seen this happen a few times on these engines and it has always been a warped distributor that caused it. Stupid plastic...

Tahoe won't start - tries though

The only cap and rotor to use on these vortec engines is factory stuff. It's more money but is lasts quite a bit longer than that autozone crap... as you've found out.

Windshield wipers have a mind of their own?!?!?!

I fix these all the time. It's the wiper pulse board. Pull it out and look at it with a magnifying glass. You'll see that the solder joints for the pins that the wire connector plugs into are cracked. You can resolder the and it will be fine.

    Highest & Lowest mileage

I know it's not a hoe, but my grandpa has a 95 k1500 chevy with just over 20K on the clock. When he bought that truck (new of course) I got his 88 k1500 and it had just over 30k then now it has 180k. My 99 hoe has 210k. A friend of mine has a 99 suburban that has 300k, and he also has a 97...

    Extended Warranty

We pretty much stopped dealing with extended warranty now. I guess people don't have the cash to drop on these warranty anymore. We also now make the customer pay the bill in full and have the company reinburse the customer, so we don't get burned by the ones that have closed up shop.

    any gm tech's out there

I've had my tahoe for a little over a year now, it's got 200K on it. I need to do the intake gasket cause it's leaking coolant. No problem there I'm a tech myself and have a tech 2 scan tool. My question is if anyone has played with the cam offset to see if it makes a difference in mileage or...

    SFI to MFI

Yes it's worth every penny. You get rid of those stupid faliure prone poppet valves. Done quite a few conversions, a few customers have said that they got 1 to 2 mpg better afterwards.

    Plug wires... Premature failure.

The coil is fine if it has enough power to arc through the wire to ground. You don't have some type of fluid leaking on the wires, do you?

    turn signal clicker keeps clicking.

I don't use a magnifying glass or anything like that. I just get a can of electrical contact cleaner and blast it in there. Let it air dry and then reassemble it. I also like to put a little dielectric grease back in too, not much, just enough to keep things from grinding together. You can't...

    Plug wires... Premature failure.

Never had a problem like this before. You're definitely using quality wires though. Did you check for corrosion in the cap/rotor, and on the wire ends. You might want to try using some dielectric grease on the plug wire ends.

    fuel gauge flutter

It's the sending unit in the tank. Seen it on quite a few gm vehicles. There are 2 followers or fingers attached to the float are. They sweep across a resistor card. One of the fingers breaks off and causes the gauge to vibrate. You need to replace the sending unit to fix it. It is...

    Fuel pressure questions

There's not suppose to be pressure when you open the cap. The fuel pressure should be about 60psi. You should be fine reusing the old gasket. If it is leaking, however, your check engine light will come on after the computer runs the evap monitor.

Get some shocks for the escalade, that ought to tame it down a bit.

    Transmission Oil Cooler

I'm a mechanic, I work on gm trucks and suv's almost every day. Install the cooler and have your trans flushed. You don't need to "service" your trans every 30k, unless you get the fluid hot. But then the mileage has nothing to do with it. You could flush it, go out and get the fluid too hot...

'96 Tahoe-Fuel pump power supply mystery

Your gray wire might check good for continuity, but still be bad. If all the strands are broken except for one you'll have continuity, but it won't carry enough voltage to run the pump. It should show up on your meter though. Try jumping power to the wire at the relay and then see if you have...
