@EWW
thank you for sharing this info that you have learned. I understand that you would appreciate not having gone through more time & trouble. If you notice the date stamps on all of the threads, this forum gets ZERO traffic. I frequently visit the GM pickup truck sites for tech info, and TYF...
Possibly moisture on pin42 of the PCM again. I don't think you sealed it up properly when you swapped PCM. unplug 42 and dry it out, then see where you stand.
Or the replacement PCM is also faulting on the same PiN: not impossible...
The most important exercise you can do is lift the front up and check the wheel hubs for any play by grasping each tire at the top & bottom, attempting to move it back&forth of the hub. You do the same thing holding at 9:00 & 3:00 o'clock for tie rod diagnosis. It doesn't cost anything and will...
How much lift are you seeking? Do you have any idea the size of tires and wheels you would like to upgrade to? What is your budget, how much are you willing to spend?
There is a million hours worth of info on Google for any application your heart desires. Since you aren't sharing any specs I...
Yeah their is a bulletin for it. You have a faulty evap vent valve that needs to be addressed. Search the google for it; I come across these threads and repairs on a regular basis. It's a very common issue on this model truck. Like everyday, common. It will be easy for you to dig up some info...
That symptom is usually a sign of ball joint failure.
You only have 2 little ball joints, basically holding your tire/wheel to the truck, or to the spindle to be specific.
I suggest you have a pro check it out if you are not moderately skilled in auto repair & diagnosis. A ball joint failure...
Hey bub it's your lucky day. I came across this write-up, complete with pics!

The part numbers for what you need are noted in the thread. Order them today and get it replaced before you do more damage to...
Sorry to hear of your troubles. It's not uncommon for folks to attempt driving 1 of these 4x4s minus a CV shaft with a resulting wheel hub separation and even bigger problems than you originally imagined. Some folks have been thoughtful enough to post warnings on the interweb; thank God I spend...
It is impossible to lift the front suspension without a having the wheels re-aligned. The positive camber resulting from 2" lift keys on my Yukon could be noticed 100 yards away and 2-stories up. It was dramatic, to say the least. If you put lift keys on your truck without having the wheels...
I just did aftermarket lift keys and 275-65-20s. I started out with the keys resting on the stops and bolts barely tightened. Then I drove the truck a few blocks, realized how rough it was and tightened the bolts up a bit cranking the keys. This improved the ride dramatically and lifted the...
The chassis linkage for the steering needs to be inspected:
Tie rod ends, idler arm, etc... Everything that you see going from the steering gearbox to the wheels. Check your front wheel bearing for play, both upper & lower control arm ball-joints. Lots & lots of maintenance items to be addressed...
Is this true? I bought a 2003 that came with 1 fob. Wanting to get a 2nd fob for wife's keychain. The original works fine so if I buy a new unit, what all do I need to know as to have both working properly instead of creating problems like rendering the original non-operational?
#1 and cheapest replacement: Encoder motor sensor, aka encoder ring in the transfercase selector motor
#2 selector switch
#3 front diff actuator
#4 TCCM transfer case module
This is of course just throwing parts at the issue. It could even be something mechanical but usually the encoder ring...
What kind of diagnosis have you come up with in regard to the 4WD, grinding sounds, etc?
I'm new here, just came across your thread. I may have similar problems with a truck that I just bought.
first of all, the "SERVICE 4WD" will not in itself disable the vehicle from starting. I suppose if the issue regarding the 4WD is bad enough like a wheel bearing about to self destruct, the vehicle could disable the starter but I have never heard of such a thing.
I had the "SERVICE 4WD" d.i.c...
I replaced the plugs in my truck last night with little difficulty, although a specific setup is called for. different people handle it different ways. I had more trouble removing the lead/boot than the actual plug itself.
see image attached.
1/2" drive ratchet
1/2" to 3/8" drive adapter
3/8"...
