Sniper,
Whatever you do, DO NOT CUT THE TRUCKS HARNESS OFF. LEAVE THE PLUG INTACT. THAT IS THE KEY TO MAKING THE INSTALL SIMPLE ONCE YOU GET THE RIGHT HARNESS
sniper, your HU has 12V. If you got a good quality harness it takes all of the guess work out of the install. The metra harnesses have the same color wires as the HU harness. You just have to connect the wires between the two harnesses and plug the Metra harness into the vehicle harness...
I have the Z2 as well. You may hear some grumblings about it not working well. It's all BS. Mine works great. THe bluetooth is tempermental. You just have to place the phone microphone in a remote location at the dash to not get feedback from the A-pillar speakers that handle the telephone...
The adapter I used is the Metra GMOS-LAN-02. I had to use that because I have the Bose system. I bought it on ebay for $87. I think it was an older model becasue it did not have the VSS connection so I had to track that down which was a real bitch. I still haven't located the reverse...
mmmm, thats interesting. The Z2 / Z3 is very quirky. Check out this forum http://http://www.avic411.com/forum/index.php?c=8&sid=88a11b14aa37d6810bb94cc83cea80a0.
It was very helpful for me when I was doing the install and the bypass of the parking brake. Search around a bit.
I had a problem using the "GM" antennae adapter that was being sold by Metra. It turned out that I needed the Chrysler one. Keep that in mind when getting into that aspect of the install.
hey 08ltmike, I have a Z2 in my 08 yukon, so here is some valuable advice.
when installing your remote microphone, route it to sit under the dash hood / visor that overhangs the instrument cluster. That is the only place I could find that minimized the echo issue that the unit has when the...
I have been noticing a slight clunk from the rear-end when I start from dead stop at a light or stop sign. The rear end also produced a weird slipping feeling the other day when I was making a U turn from a dead stop. I attributed that to the locking rear end but I have never felt it do that...
so I take it that the yukon without the climate control from the factory is not compatible with digital style thermostat? The digital thermostat is the one that come with the vehicles with climate control.
I ended up selling my stilleto partially because of that noise. That and I almost wrapped my truck around several stationary objects trying to read the tiny screen while driving.
I purchased a Edge Evo from him. He sold it below MSRP which I later found to be against the Edge vendor license rules. I was happy though because I saved about $20.00 over other vendors. The downside is it took him a while to ship. I ended up having to motivate him by threatening to give...
I did see an MPG improvement with the edge evolution. I have a volant CAI and I didn't see any MPG improvement. I'd spend the money again on the edge evo, probably not on the CAI.
I have the pod kit and it is a really good match for the color of the gray dash. The design is good and does a decent job integrating into the dash curves. IMO though, the pod is very gimmicky and slightly cheesy. I used it for about a month and removed it because I didn't want to have the...
I just wrapped up the installation of the Z2 in my 07 Yukon. The yukon is factory amplified and has onstar. If anyone needs any tips on installing this in their truck PM me.
Can anyone tell me where to find the reverse wire in the dash area? I have to tie it into a nav system (Z2). I also have to connect to the VSS. Based on the research I've done on this forum, the VSS is the green wire in the upper right corner of the wiring junction block near the brake pedal...
