yes... you should. there's a tab(i think it's plastic, it could be metal though) that hooks to a rod(from the actual mechanism)... the tab was broken on mine. I think that's the weak point of the door handle. You'll see what i'm talking about once you take the panel off.

I believe it's a common problem for the inside door handle to break... mine broke and I had to take the panel off and replace it. it's a 15 dollar part from Autozone or Advance, but it's a pain to actually do it. shouldn't take you more than an hour.
