I just did this on my Tahoe, turned out to be the upper cam adjusters for the upper control arm. When I had a front end alignment the bolts weren't tightened enough and worked loose.

If you are checking your U-joints look for seized cups as well as the loose ones. Also look for dents or marks in the driveshaft that might indicate a bend.

Isn't there an access cover or plug where you can put an allen key or some sort of drive into so you can close it manually just for this kind of situation.

Is your line leaking at the rad or the filter? If at the rad cut the fitting off the rubber line ,, remove the crimped shield ( side cutters , dremmel what have ya) dont dammage the fitting , cut the rest of the hose off the fitting , slide the supply line back over the barb of the fitting...
