I have a 2000 Yukon 5.3 liter. When its at idle, I hear a knocking in the lower left of the engine compartment. I don't know whether its a lifter or not, but I thought I might get some feedback before going to a mechanic and being charged up the ass to hear something totally wrong. Any answers?

I have been hearing a whining noise that gets louder as I accelerate, and is louder in the mornings when I start my yukon up. someone said this is my fuel pump, and said that it needed to be replaced. any suggestions as to what it is, and if the fuel pump needs to be replaced.

Idling problem Thanks man, it worked. I cleaned it out about a week ago, and it hasn't been doing it since. It wasn't that dirty though, I dont know how it could make that big of a difference.

I haven't done it yet, but it seems logical.. I'll try it tomorrow morning and post the results. Do you have a Yukon?

I have already changed the fuel filter, and it didn't help. I think it might be a vacuum line leak or something along those lines. There is 106,000 on the car.
