    Which Tires?

From the above, I'd definetly choose BFG M/T, but you might consider running Cooper Discoverer STT's. I know a lot of people who have run them in NE Oklahoma over the years and everyone loves them. Also, if you want a decently aggressive tire that lasts a long time try BFG A/T KO. I ran these...

Newbie Mech's "How To"- Transfer Case Lube Change

I did this a couple weeks ago and would like to add one thing. Make sure you have a good pump before you drain the TC. I went to every parts store in the greater Tulsa area and never found a good one. I ended up going to Wal-Mart and purchasing a Turkey Baster. It took about an hour to pump 1.5...

    Odd tread wear

I did. Apparently, it is just an allignment issue. I took it in to my shop guy and he told me that's all it was. I believe it is uncommon, but apparently it happens. I figure the previous owner of my Tahoe didn't maintain balancing/proper inflation and the tires (Bridgestone Dueller H/T, OEM...

    awd ?'s 04 tahoe

I have a AWD Tahoe, but I've never tried this. I think I might give it a whirl this weekend. I know what you're saying about disabling your traction control permanently, but mine has already saved my life and I've only owned the vehicle 4 months. Call me an aggressive driver, but the traction...

(Front end Whine) Carrier Bearings in Front Differential replaced

That would be fantastic. I know there are quite a few of us here with this issue. Thanks.

    Heated Seat Problem

I have this problem with my Tahoe. I called a local dealership here in Tulsa to see about prices on parts. It turns out this particular dealership only sells the whole switch cluster on the door pannel, (the pedal switch and heated seat switch, door lock, mirrors, and window switches). It was...

Whining noise from frontend 04 LT AWD

I too own an '04 tahoe with AWD and I also have the whine in the front end. I did some reading in the manual about this and the manual actually says that a low "moaning" type noise is normal in the AWD models. I'm a fairly new member, but I've done a lot of reading on this subject and I hear a...

    God saved my life today

I'm driving on the freeway, headed back to work from lunch. As I make a turn that I've made 500 times before I see a wreck ahead of me no more than 50 yards away. There's a car beside me and I'm in the inside lane, so there's no where to go. I slam on the brakes and feel the traction system kick...

Might buy an '04 Tahoe, advice appreciated

I took a 100 mile trip just last weekend and was getting 20.7mpg per my dash gas mileage calculator. I got 19 the week before. I don't know if you have checked for the fuel mileage thread on this site, but plenty of people are getting significantly more than 15mpg. The only reason I got the...

    Ipod Question?

If I understand you correctly, I don't think it has anything to do with your auxiliary power source. I have had the same issue with the whine and I found it to be a bad ground to the stereo. Does the truck only make the whine when your iPod adapter is plugged into your auxiliary power source?

Might buy an '04 Tahoe, advice appreciated

I recently bought an '04 Tahoe. I flew from Tulsa to Hartford to pick it up, then drove it back. It's an awesome vehicle. I get 21mpg highway and mine is AWD with the 5.3L. To put things into perspective, I think I got a pretty good deal and I bought my LT Tahoe (fully loaded) with 90K on the...

    All Z71 Owners

For a reference point, I owned a set of bfg A/Ts for a few years and ran them until I sold the truck about a year ago. I kept good air in them and rotated them fairly infrequently with good treadwear. I'd say they had 50% tread with about 35K on them. This was on a '95 F-150 4x. I ran...

    Odd tread wear

If you were to stand at the rear of my Tahoe, all 4 tires are worn on the right side shoulder. All of them... When I first looked at the set upon purchase, the passenger side tires looked like the had some wear on the outside (right ride) shoulder, but I just figured the previous owner had...

    Mobil 1

Check out this link: http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilterstudy.html#sae This is a pretty cool site. They show the insides of a variety of name brand filters and the surface area of the filtration element. The main difference in these filters, from what I can see, is the...

    Mobil 1

So, I recently made the switch. In all my previous cars I'd always used conventional motor oil with a... ahem... Fram oil filter. One day I decided that I would do some research and see whether my choice of lubricant/filtration was the best value. I found that Fram oil filters are awful and that...

    Grounding Issue: Whine through speakers

Have you been under the center console? By that I mean the extention from the center console; the part that seperates the floorboard between the two front bucket seats. If you already have and didn't find a ground wire, it will save me some time. I appreciate it.

    Grounding Issue: Whine through speakers

I have a 2004 Tahoe, 5.3 LT with Bose. The other day as I'm driving through town, a faint static noise comes through my speakers. As I drive along the sound appears to get louder. I notice that the pitch of the sound directly reflects the RPM of the engine (as I accelerate, the pitch of the...
