My 2008 wont go into auto 4x4 (i assume)or 4 hi. I can put into neutral and turn knob to 4lo and I hear the "clunk" and dash reads "stabilitrak off".... when it drives, it is obviously in 4lo. if i put back in neutral and turn knob to 4hi, i here another clunk and dash reads " stabilitrak off" for only a few seconds..... when I drive it doesnt seem to be in 4hi, rather, its seems to be in 2hi. from this... I can only assume auto isnt working either.
also, if i am in 2hi, in gear, stopped... and I turn knob to 4hi, the amber light will blink then go solid (does this in auto and lo as well), but i dont hear the clunk of engagement.
also, when the knob is in 2 hi, it shows a white light over the 2hi on the outer diameter edge of the knob....i am guessing this is just visual position indicator..if i go to any other choice...is it supposed to be white over what you select? because it is not.
